Mosaddeka Begum Obituary, Death – The nation mourns the heartbreaking loss of Mosaddeka Begum, a 24-year-old mother from Baloibunia village in Kalapara upazila, Patuakhali, who died tragically following a horrific road accident in Amtali, Barguna. She leaves behind her two-day-old daughter, who remains hospitalized with critical injuries.
The accident occurred on the Patuakhali-Kuakata Highway around 1:30 PM on Friday, when a Kuakata-bound bus collided head-on with the battery-run auto-rickshaw carrying Mosaddeka, her husband Zahidul Islam, their newborn, her father Azizul Haque, and mother-in-law Khaleda Begum. The family was en route to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for a check-up on the newborn, who had just entered the world.
In a cruel twist of fate, Mosaddeka’s father and mother-in-law died instantly at the crash site near Keowabunia Secondary School. Mosaddeka herself succumbed to her injuries shortly after being rushed to the hospital. Her husband Zahidul and their child, along with the rickshaw driver, Wahab Gazi, were critically injured and remain under medical care.
From his hospital bed, Zahidul Islam shared the heartbreaking last moments:
“We were on our way to consult a doctor for our newborn daughter. The reckless Ikra Paribahan bus hit our auto-rickshaw. My mother and father-in-law died on the spot, and then my wife passed away at the hospital.”
Mosaddeka was known in her community as gentle-hearted, loving, and deeply committed to her family. Her dreams, like any young mother’s, were centered around raising her child with care and devotion. That dream was stolen in an instant by recklessness on the road.
Her story is a tragic reminder of the fragility of life — and the urgent need for greater road safety measures in Bangladesh.
May she rest in peace, and may her daughter recover and grow up surrounded by the love her mother would have given her every single day.
